Unit Introduction: Anchoring Phenomenon
Launch the AWF Curriculum Unit with, preferably, an in-person water cycle demonstration, after administering the student pre-assessment and at least 2 weeks before the day of the festival itself.
Anchor Phenomenon: How does your local water cycle affect your water availability and impact your life?
Activate: Students will observe, analyze and interpret a water cycle demonstration or demonstration video.
Check: Students will label a water cycle diagram with parts and processes using prior knowledge, observations and inferences from the water cycle demonstration video.
Equipment and Resources:

- Electric burner or hot plate
- 2 metal pots, each ¾ full of water
- Metal pan
- Potholder
- Ice
- Water
